How to post diving on Strava
Strava can log the dive. Here's how to make the post show what actually happened underwater.
Step-by-step
- 1Open Strava and tap Add Manual Entry — most dive computers don't sync directly.
- 2Set the sport type. Use Workout for scuba and Swim for freediving as the closest matches.
- 3Add the time, duration and any effort notes. Save the activity.
- 4Open UPPOST and pick the Diving template. Add max depth, bottom time, dive site, visibility, water temp and notes.
- 5Copy the title and caption into Strava and attach the UPPOST image as the cover photo.
Example
Title: Dive · 28m · 42min · Tulamben Drop-off · Viz 20m
Caption: Morning dive on the Drop-off. Hawksbill turtle at 22m, schooling jacks on the wall. Water 28°C.
Common mistakes
- Logging the dive but leaving the title blank — the feed shows it as just "Workout".
- Hiding depth and dive site in the description nobody reads.
- Skipping the photo. A dive without a visual disappears in the feed.
- Using a generic gym graphic — it doesn't match the activity.
- Logging multiple dives as one activity — split them so the recap is accurate.
FAQ
Can I post diving on Strava?
Yes — by adding a manual activity. Strava doesn't have a dedicated scuba activity type, so most divers use Workout. The session logs correctly; UPPOST adds the dive-specific context.
Does UPPOST post to Strava automatically?
No. UPPOST creates the image, title, and caption. You copy them into the Strava activity yourself.
Will this work for freediving?
Yes. Use the Swim or Workout activity type on Strava, then UPPOST captures depth, duration, dive site and visibility the same way.
Is UPPOST affiliated with Strava?
No. UPPOST is independent — no partnership, sync or official integration.
